Smart Freedom Plan: Hands On, First Impressions

According to the Smart Store where I got my Smart Freedom Plan, they said I was the first subscriber in their store who availed the said postpaid plan.

It was last week when I saw in Smart’s web site a new postpaid plan that appeared on their web site all of a sudden. After two more days, Freedom Plan was officially added to the list of plans in the right side menu of the Smart web site, when you click “Postpaid.”

I must say, Smart’s activation process was….FAST! It only took me an hour before my Smart postpaid SIM card was activated.

I’ll be writing a review after my first billing statement. For now, I’ll be trying out my new Smart subscription with the smartphone that I got from South Korea.

UPDATE 1 (April 26, 2012): I finally received my first bill!

UPDATE 2 (May 15, 2012): Check out my review here!

Comparing Smart Gold and Globe Postpaid

It’s been a year and a half since I wrote my review on having a Globe Postpaid account and a Smart Gold account. I hope people on the blogosphere find this post really useful.

So, are you now getting sick of getting disconnected during your calls because you suddenly ran out of prepaid credits? Well, here’s the deal! The author of this blog made it simple so that you can make a choice between Globe Postpaid and Smart Gold. Continue reading

NEW Globe Postpaid–My Super Plan Review

Update (March 26, 2015): Sad to say, Globe again magically removed the My Super Plan or My Fully Loaded Plan, like what the company did to its previous G-Plans (GText, GTalk, GTalk Plus, etc), G-Flex Plans (G-Flex 800, G-Flex 1200, etc) and its entry level plans (Personal, Advantage, etc).

There is a new, updated version of this blog post. You can read that new post by clicking here.

SMART Gold Lite Review

It’s finally time to say goodbye to my Smart Gold account, with cellphone number (yes, I am exposing my Smart cellphone number because I don’t own it anymore!) 09088731871. It has been nine (9) months doing business with Smart. Too bad, if Smart did something good for their postpaid subscribers like me, I would not even hesitate in doing business with them for more than two years. In the end, after all the rants I posted on their Facebook page, they didn’t do anything to their postpaid service. Now, its now time to say goodbye because I believe Smart Communications doesn’t have ears to their subscribers. In summary, Smart is very greedy. Their service is indeed “Gold” because everything is literally “gold.”

I decided to go back to Globe postpaid. I decided to get a hands on their Globe Fully Loaded Plan 299. I will write a separate blog post once I feel writing ^__^ Continue reading

Smart Surf N’ Mail

I thought something amazing Smart did when they launched Smart Surf N’ Mail. But in the end, it wasn’t.

If you are a SMART Gold subscriber, may you be on a SMART Gold Lite or a regular SMART Gold subscription, think again. Here’s why:

  1. Smart Go Mail isn’t true Push Mail service. Yes. That’s true. Smart Go Mail isn’t true Push Mail service. If it is a push mail service, why is it that the settings that I get with my Sony Ericsson not similar to a true push mail service? Why is it that the settings that I have here in my mobile phone are IMAP settings? Why can’t they let me sync directly with GMail’s servers using GMail’s settings? In fact, what is SMART doing is just copying your GMail inbox. I’m not even sure if SMART is retaining a copy of my e-mail messages from GMail. Good thing that I only subscribed to their one day unlimited Go Mail.
  2. Smart won’t let you check how many hours have you consumed. As of July 7, 2010, I am daring all SMART Gold subscribers to check all news web sites, all flyers given by SMART and even SMART’s web site. You can never find any texting procedures so that you can check whether you have already consumed all your 8 or 16 hours of internet surfing. You have no access. I looked at their Frequently Asked Questions and I found none.
  3. Smart won’t tell you how would they charge you, if they are counting by seconds, minutes or by 30-minute segments. As of July 7, 2010, I am daring all SMART Gold subscribers to check all news web sites, all flyers given by SMART and even SMART’s web site. They never told you if they will be counting your usage in minutes, 30-minute segments or hours.

I don’t recommend people to subscribe to these “data plans” because all information required by SMART Gold subscribers are not present.

For now, according to my mobile phone counter, I have already consumed exactly 13 minutes (13:00) or internet time. I am using the the 8 hours of internet surfing just to synchronize with GMail’s push mail service. I don’t use SMART’s Go Mail because I don’t want a copy of my e-mail messages with SMART. I don’t trust them.

Globe Postpaid Review

Update (February 12, 2016): I have written a more recent version of Globe’s postpaid, introduced as My Fully Loaded Plan, now called ALL NEW Super Plan. Click here to view the more recent review.

Last Updated: July 7, 2010

Thinking of applying to a Globe postpaid plan? Think again. This blog post will serve as a guide if you intend to apply for a Globe postpaid account. If you can, you can still double-check the pros and cons if they still apply even nowadays (2010).

I remember, Globe was using the big G for its campaigns.

Globe Telecom’s wireless postpaid service was really a good back in 2003 up to 2007.

I was able to get my hands on their postpaid plans by signing up my Dad.

I wanted to sign up for a postpaid plan during those times because I hate going to AutoLoadMAX Stations whenever I needed prepaid credit and I hate buying prepaid cards repeatedly. Also, there were times that I was inside a bus and I needed so badly to send an SMS and call someone.
